Details: Seven-day car rental from Carcassonne Airport in the south of France.
Pick-up: After waiting in line for 15 minutes, I had my paperwork dealt with promptly before being escorted to the vehicle. Staff offered a basic map and some useful route advice. They were also willing to help install the car seat my partner and I had reserved for our young daughter.
Vehicle: We booked a four-door Ford Focus for our family of four and the trunk was large enough to accommodate our luggage. The car was smooth and straightforward to drive, and reasonably fuel-efficient.
Journey: We were heading an hour east on a well-maintained highway to Narbonne, where we were spending a week. There was a toll booth along the way, which was simple to use with a credit card.
Drop-off: Handled pleasantly and with a minimum of fuss, although it took a few minutes to find a parking space.
Service: Positive overall. Staff were friendly, ready to help and answered our queries. The Thrifty rental office is one of several located less than a minute’s walk from the airport terminal.
Last word: An efficient choice for exploring a rewarding region. The airport location is a plus, although it means lines can be lengthy at pick-up
