Hotel Review: Desert Palm Per Aquum, Dubai

Desert Palm Per Aquum
Dubai, UAE

At this luxury low-rise hotel, the sound of hooves is one of the main attractions. Just a 15-minute drive from the airport, and 30 minutes from Downtown Dubai, this 160-acre estate is home to Dubai Polo Club.
Take afternoon tea on the terrace and watch the pros in action, or join in the fun and take lessons with the resident Argentinian polo instructor (October to May). The hotel welcomes families.
While some are experienced riders, others simply come to laze by the infinity pool, head to the spa for a Thai-inspired treatment or take the shuttle bus to the beach or shopping mall. On Fridays, linger over the buffet brunch with flowing champagne, then head to the Polo Bar for a cocktail as the sun sets.
Nods to equestrian culture occur throughout the property, from a giant sculpture of a horse’s head in the lobby, to smaller statues of ponies in the lounge.
This is a hotel where the decadence of Dubai is on your doorstep. But, it’s not in your face. Sam Lewis
